Wow as I take the time to write this post the month of love has definitely flown by very quickly. And what a month it has been…
It kicked off with two events to choose from the famous Penguin 5km waddle in order to raise funds for SANCCOB. a few members took part in this event. And Charlo even adopted Secret Agent AP303.
And then there was the first non-league event of the year where everyone was either running towards love or away from love in the annual Metlife Mall Love to Run. We had a total of 10 penguins finishing this event.
This was followed by our own popular event The Galaxy Bingo Two Views 10 & 5km. Once again the members pulled out all stops and showed everyone that we host one of the best events in Gqeberha.
Thanks to all Charlo members that helped in today’s Two View 10 and 5 km race, what a great turn out and successful race, without your support our club won’t be the club that everyone wants to be involved with.

And to end off the month for those who wanted to run a marathon to either qualify or better there seeding had a choice between 3 events. The Cango Caves Marathon where word has it that you could almost fry a egg on your car it was so hot. Congratulations Cindy (3:55:05) and Thomas (4:58:49) for enduring the hot weather and completing the race,
There were then the 19 brave souls who finished the Runified 50km, where at times if you had wings you probably could have flown thanks to the “gentle breeze” that we faced. Don’t forget the 25 penguins that tackled the 10km. And the bravest of them all where the volunteers along the route who arrived before the race started and waited for the very last runner to come past. It was nice to see the friendly and tired faces wishing you well as you waddled past them.
Then there was the Buffs Marathon a nice down run with a sting in it’s tail. Ryan (04:17:12) and Michala (04:28:07) flying the Red and Black colours in the border area.
And finally there a few that felt that they had to do more than just run and took part in The People’s Triathlon. Shaun (05:29:04) and Hishaan (06:10:35) completed the People’s 90. and Brett (03:53:22) and Armin (04:14:53) completed the People’s 60.
So once a again a huge thanks to all for your participation and volunteering. This is what makes Charlo the best club to join!
